Every Step an Arrival
What’s going on right now? What’s the present moment giving it to you? Challenges? Victories? Hopes? Dreams? Hesitation? Whatever it is, one thing for sure is real, and if you look closely, you will be able to spot God’s presence in it.
Recently, I was reading a book called “The Pastor” by Eugene Peterson, and he wrote one sentence that made me stop and reflect - “Every step an arrival”.
When we believe that our arrival is something in a future we have no control over, we are allowing our vision to get blurred, our hearts to become anxious, and our today isn’t as appreciated as it should be. We also miss the chance to notice His fingerprints and all the miracles that are in motion. We lose the sense of awe and gratitude.
In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus focuses on “today”. When He talks about our anxious hearts in Matthew 6:34, He reminds us to focus our hearts on today! He knows how beautiful our present can be when we understand that every day is a chance to bring change, to point others to Him, to meet people’s needs, to be kind and generous, to witness miracles as we pray, to see healing, transformation, and His Kingdom coming to us! That’s how he walked, looking around and transforming what was in front of Him.
Remember, the steps you took today are an arrival: an arrival to a place where He is present and moving. Arrival to a day He wanted us to be here, bringing hope and joy.
The step you took today is an arrival no matter how it looked. It’s an arrival to a place where God is already transforming you into becoming more of what God intends for you here on Earth. An arrival to the present where He is already doing and moving - today, right now, look around, what is in front of you!
For you:
You might have been feeling anxious about your future, perhaps questioning where you are going. I want to encourage you to sit down with God and be honest about it. Tell Him your dreams, the things you wish you could see happening in the future. Then, surrender everything to Him and write down the beautiful treasures He has blessed you with this week, but also today. Keep a record of them and let Him speak to you that every single day is an arrival to His will for you.
