A Patient Faith
"God's revelations rarely come quickly. He loves to say "wait". There is something that grows inside our hearts when we wait. The ripening that takes place, the root that grows in deeper soil; important steps that establish our faith.”
Kindness + Forgiveness
"Be kind and compassionate to one another. Forgive each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." – Ephesians 4:32
Purify my words.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”- Ephesians 4:29
When life feels heavy
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.” - Psalm 62:5
In 2021…
“…but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” Psalm 1:2-3
In Quietness + Trust
“…in quietness and trust is your strength…” (Isaiah 30:15)
Strength + Courage
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9
Obedience
“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” - Philippians 2:8
Foundation
“According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” - 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
The Unseen Choices
“Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.” - Proverbs 2:11
When He speaks
“Just as rain and snow descend from the skies and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth, doing their work of making things grow and blossom, producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry. So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty-handed. They’ll do the work I sent them to do, they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.” – Isaiah 55:10-11 (MSG)
Selah
{Selah} When I read the Bible, it used to be unnoticed. Now it has taken on a new connotation and a new meaning in my life.
Although it is a word that scholars disagree about its meaning; Selah, of Hebrew origin, is generally accepted with the purpose of pause.
Empathy
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” Hebrews 4:15
Community
Between the broken pieces, He’s building His church, His people. Like an old house, strong but in need of full restoration, a place where many are scared of going inside, He reveals to us our own nature - the one we don’t like to see, but we need to.
Perseverance
“[by faith] he persevered because he saw Him who is invisible.” - Hebrews 11:27b.
Seasons
“They are like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither...” (Psalm 1:3)
Sailboat
For a long time, I have pictured my journey with God like a sailboat, sailing away across the ocean, being guided by the wind. I've always loved the picture of God like the Captain of my boat (life) and the Holy Spirit, the wind blowing in my sails (heart).
Experiencing God
Every season in our lives we experience a new way of seeing God. It’s like He uses each one of them to reveal something new about Himself, as He is so much bigger than we can ever know.
Prayer
“Devote yourselves to prayer.” - Colossians 4:2
The Irresistible Life
These past few weeks I’ve been thinking about what I kind of called “the irresistible life” - not the kind of life that looks perfect, but the kind of life that inspires us, the ones that we read books about them because we want to learn from the way they lived. People whose existence transformed history and made the future better.
